COLLINGWOOD CIVIC CENTRE FEASIBILITY
STUDY
Collingwood, ON
As Theatre Consultant to Marshall Macklin Monaghan Limited,
Janis Barlow analyzed supply and demand for a new theatre facility in the resort
area of Collingwood, Ontario in 1992. A comprehensive market/needs assessment
was undertaken of the regional market and tourism market, programming options
and alternative operating approaches and business plans.
Janis Barlow developed and provided a comprehensive building
program based on two development options: a 600-seat auditorium and 7,000 square
foot multi-purpose hall and an 800-seat auditorium with a 7,000 square foot
multi-purpose hall.
Templates were developed from the comprehensive building
program and nine sites chosen for consideration. Site evaluation and design
concept development were undertaken by Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg
Architects and reviewed by Janis Barlow.
Supplementary information was provided to demonstrate economic impact.
